May continues to deliver some truly inconsistent weather, but this morning the sun was back and it was a beautiful bright morning.
With a 2-3ft swell, after so much rain, conditions were a little chaotic in the water. Couple that with a State surfing competition in town all week, it lead to some truly weird vibes.
Parkies was packed (yep, i normally don't name places I shoot, not that you can't tell, but out of respect) with fluro boards and people wrecking the dunes. Maybe I'm turning into a grumpy old man, but it just isn't a vibe to see, or experience. I'm all for comps and lots of people having a good time. But get out of the dunes.
So after a quick shoot I headed over to Diggers to which it was a ghost town. Another comp was setting up, but no locals (except Sarah) were seen. I miss our crew. I think that's the first time I've been to Diggers this month. Waves were cleaner, but not better.
Ive had messages about people not getting in the water due to the rain and the stirring up in the ocean, which i get. Others have written off this week as the comp is in town, which I understand.
