And the reward for those who got out early enough was probably the best sunrise of the year.

I scampered as quickly as possible and got to the beach i thought would be working. Nope. No one out. But the light and clouds were amazing.

So headed over the hill and shot home for a good 45 mins. The sun and clouds had me pacing up and down the mid section of the beach.

Conditions looked lucky. There were waves but, as a local put it, it was very much "right place right time" to snag the goods. You can tell those kind of mornings when 40 off surfers are sprawled across 100m of lineup.

Lots of fresh faces in the line up too.
